Why Do We Need It?
American Fork City is growing rapidly, and with growth comes the need to expand emergency services. After a thorough professional evaluation of staffing levels, call volume, and response times, it was determined that our city needs a new fire station immediately. Currently, only 70% of our community falls within the nationally recommended response time of 4-6 minutes. The New Fire Station will ensure that 90% of our residents will receive service within the 4-6 minute response time. Response times of emergency services not only affects the safety and well-being of our citizens and visitors, but also affects the city’s ISO rating. ISO ratings are used by insurance companies to determine how safe every city is. A better ISO rating reduces the amount people must pay for insurance in our city. Station 51 is already the busiest fire station in Utah County. In 2018 American Fork Fire/Rescue responded on 3182 calls. The next busiest station responded on fewer than half that number. Another fire station will reduce the chance that our firefighters and paramedics are busy when another call comes in.
